S-MVF02 Belt Feeder Part Checks by Southern Machinery
What is the S-MVF02 used for? The S-MVF02 reciprocating belt feeder from Southern Machinery feeds loose odd-form parts, such as connectors, buzzers, RJ45 jacks, terminal posts and square capacitors from 3 x 3 x 3 to 20 x 20 x 20 mm, to a placement machine. This guide shows how to check, before you order, whether your part will run from bulk.

Why does a cheap connector end up costing so much?
A connector costs a few cents. Sending it out for taping or tray packing can add a cost per part and extra lead time to every order. Parts the machine cannot pick end up placed by hand, with the labour and error rate that brings.
Most buyers see this only after the first quote for taped parts arrives. The hidden problem is not the feeder. It is that nobody checked, early enough, whether the part can be sorted from bulk at all.
What is the real problem with ordering a bulk feeder first?
Buyers often order a bulk feeder and only then find the part cannot be sorted. Time and money are lost on both sides. Vibratory bowl feeders are another common route, but according to the S-MVF02 data sheet they are large, loud and slow to change, while the belt feeder is small, quiet and quick to change.
If this sounds familiar, you are not alone. The fix is a short routine you run at the design review, before any quotation.
How do you check a part in five steps?
Run these five checks for every new odd-form part. Each one comes from the S-MVF02 data sheet.
1. Does the part have clear physical features?
The selector track sorts parts by their physical features. A part with no clear feature but where direction matters is listed as not suitable.
2. Do the pins bend easily?
Parts with easily bent pins are listed as not suitable. Check the part drawing and a handful of samples.
3. Is the length-to-height ratio right?
A length-to-height ratio below 1:1.2 is listed as not suitable.
4. Is the size inside the range?
The data sheet range is 3 x 3 x 3 mm to 20 x 20 x 20 mm.
5. Is the part type on the list?
Connectors, buzzers, RJ45 jacks, terminal posts and square capacitors with clear features are the stated fits.
How does the S-MVF02 turn a pile of parts into one pick?
Loose parts are poured in and a motor-driven belt carries them forward. A selector track shaped to the part lets only correctly oriented parts pass. Wrong-way parts drop onto a return belt and travel back to the input for another try, so nothing is thrown away. A linear vibrator then moves good parts to the pick position, where a fibre sensor and vibrator delay position each part within ±1 mm. Feeding takes 1.5 - 2 s per part.

Versions set per order
The standard version hosts a FUJI NXT bulk terminal feeder slot and can be built for any placement machine brand. The selector track is made per part family, and the fixing (locating key plus clamp block, other fixings on request) and IO signal list are matched to your machine.
How does it join a complete PCB assembly line?
The feeder sits at the machine that places or inserts the odd-form part. Placement machines are covered in our THT machine range and auto insertion category. Boards then move on through wave soldering, with board handling systems linking the stations and 3D SPI and AOI checking the result. Southern Machinery, founded in Shenzhen in 2011 and serving 237+ global customers, supplies SMT, THT and board handling equipment with global service, spare parts support and professional training.

What is the payback logic, and what does it depend on?
Use your own numbers. This is an example formula, depending on configuration and subject to final technical confirmation:
Operator hours freed = parts per month x share placed by hand x minutes per part / 60
Net saving = hours freed x operator hourly cost - feeder upkeep cost - feeder priceExample only: 10,000 parts a month, half placed by hand, 0.5 minute each frees about 42 operator hours a month before upkeep. Those inputs are illustrative, not source data, and the result is not a performance claim.
What does a shift look like with the feeder?
Every shift, empty the feeder of mixed or damaged parts, wipe the fibre sensor lens, check air stays in 0.4 - 0.6 MPa, and check belt tension, track and the aviation connector. Belt replacement interval: to be confirmed with Southern Machinery. If parts stop, note where (belt, track, vibrator or pick position), stop the feeder and host before reaching in, check the parts for bent pins or foreign parts, then the sensor and track wear.

FAQ
What parts does the S-MVF02 feed?
Connectors, buzzers, RJ45 jacks, terminal posts and square capacitors, 3 to 20 mm, with clear physical features.
Which parts are not suitable?
Parts with no clear feature but where direction matters, easily bent pins, or a length-to-height ratio below 1:1.2.
Which machines can it work with?
The standard version hosts FUJI NXT; it can be built for any placement machine brand, set per order.
What do I send to confirm fit?
Host machine brand, model and feeder slot photo, part drawing and 20-50 sample parts, parts per hour, IO signal list and the pick orientation you need.
What does it cost and when does it ship?
Price and lead time are quoted per order and not published in the source — contact Southern Machinery to confirm.
